Etymology
Champissage is a modern term for what is commonly known as Indian Head Massage. It is a portmanteau of champi, the word for head in some Indian languages, and the ending of the word massageIndian head massage was brought to the west by Narendra Metha.
Practice
Champissage is practiced all over Europe, with differing disciplines formed.
Theory
Like many other alternative medicines, there is a belief that energy flows in the body. When the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, pains and aches, and hair loss.
Opposition
As with many other alternative medicines, the effectiveness and scientific merit of Indian Head Massage has been called into question.
