Other Limited Brands include The Limited, Victoria's Secret, Express, Henri Bendel, White Barn Candle, and C.O. Bigelow. Limited Brands also once owned Abercrombie & Fitch as well as Lane Bryant.
In the past, Bath & Body Works stores were designed to have more of a "customized" feel. All stores were not exactly alike and the product selection was slightly different from location to location. The product and store used rustic country themes and patterns. Over time, the chain's operations became more streamlined and the product and store design have moved away from a country red check and unfinished wood to a sleeker white and blue. While maintaining the ever popular Signature Collection, all Bath and Body Works locations now carry C.O. Bigelow Apothecary items and Henri Bendel home fragrances.
The company now offers a wide range of body products, rather than just the fragrant body care it was originally known for. Old favorites such as Warm Vanilla Sugar and Sweet Pea have been joined by new favorites The Blossom Fragrances (Cherry Blossom, White Cherry Blossom, Japanese Cherry Blossom, and Magnolia Blossom) and Brown Sugar and Fig, and seasonal fragrances and products are offered with every season's change. Lines like True Blue Spa, in which most products have no lingering scent, and Le Couvent De Minimes are designed to both fragrance and pamper skin, the signature Aromatherapy line to influence moods, and C.O. Bigelow and Pure Simplicity to treat specific skin care issues. The newest addition of Dr. Wexler's skincare moves the store closer to treating the whole body with high quality but affordable products. Bath & Body Works is undergoing a total brand makeover — from gingham check and country-inspired fragrant body care to a modern apothecary of beauty and well-being. Its tagline - Beauty for Body and Soul - speaks to the need to create a more holistic approach to beauty, one that cares for the mind and spirit together with skin and body.
Bath & Body Works originally had a mascot named Kate, who embodied the rustic nature of the company. She was said to have begun the company in her hometown in Ohio. Bath and Body Works is known not only for its products but for a friendly store atmosphere, holiday decorations above and beyond average retail displays, and its Semi-Annual sales running every June and January.
There are 1,555 Bath and Body Works locations nationally, including seven outlet stores; one is in Wisconsin, two are in Ohio, one in California, one in South Carolina, one in Arizona and the newest one in Texas. They offer overstocks, seasonal, discontinued and items that are being repackaged at significant discounts. The company has launched both a catalogue and a website, Bath and Body Works, in the last year. Net Sales as of January 28, 2006 were $2,285,000,000, significantly higher than all other Limited Brands but Victoria's Secret.
